Bugis Degree of Comparison | Perbandingan Bahasa Bugis



Our lesson at this session is Degrees of comparison in Bugis Language. Generally, Degree of Comparison refers to adjectives being written in different forms to compare one thing or person to another. There are three different forms of comparison. They are positive, comparative and superlative degree.
1. Positive Degree
Positive Degree is used when we speak about only one thing or person
1. Tingkat Positif
Tingkatan ini digunakan ketika kita membicarakan hanya satu orang / benda
Examples:

Alena iyanaritu to caradde.
/alena iyana:ritu to caradde/

Indonesia: Dia adalah orang yang pintar.
English: He is a smart person.

bungana i hamida canti'.
/bunganna i ha:mida canti'/

Indonesia: Bunga Aminah cantik.
English: Amina's Flower is beautiful.

2. Comparative Degree
Comparative Degree is used when we speak about two thing or person. To identify this kind of degree, it can be seen by the use of lebbi before adjective word and the addition of -i after the word.
1. Tingkat Lebih
Tingkatan ini digunakan ketika kita membicarakan dua orang / benda. Untuk mengetahui tingkatan ini, dapat dilihat dengan penggunaan kata lebbi sebelum kata adjektif dan penambahan afix -i setelah kata adjektif tersebut.

/sapinna loppoi nasapikku/


Indonesia: Sapi dia lebih besar daripada sapi saya
English: His cow is bigger than my cow.

Indonesia: Sapi dia lebih besar daripada sapi saya 
English: His cow is bigger than my cow.

3. Superlative Degree
Comparative Degree is used when we speak about more than two thing or person. To identify this kind of degree, it can be seen by the use of paling before adjective word.
3. Tingkat Paling
Tingkatan ini digunakan ketika kita membicarakan lebih dari dua orang / benda. Untuk mengetahui tingkatan ini, dapat dilihat dengan penggunaan kata paling sebelum kata adjektif

/bolana paling loppo ri kampokku/

Indonesia: Rumah dia yang paling besar di kampung saya.
English: His house is biggest in my village..

Nice. I don't know much about your language. At least this gives me some ideas.

You use 'tau' for people while in our language
we use 'tao' for people. Almost the same.
